When working on the Spotwork platform, you are considered an independent contractor. Spotwork does not withhold taxes or deductions on any of your earnings through the app. Therefore, it is your responsibility to declare this income at the end of the year when you file your income taxes. Because of this, we recommend saving a minimum of 20% of your earnings in order to avoid any surprise expenses during tax season.

Important Dates

In Canada, the deadline to file your taxes for the 2023 period is April 30th, 2024. In the United States, the deadline for the 2023 period is April 15th, 2024.

Does Spotwork Provide Tax Documentation?

Canadian Professionals

If you earned $500 or more during the 2023 year, Spotwork will provide a summary of your earnings on request. You can request your earnings summary here.

United States Professionals

IRS Form 1099 ( for United States residents) will be automatically emailed to you if you earned over $600 during the tax season. Your 1099 form can also be accessed through your GigWage account.
